On the show this week Co-Hosts Kathy Young and Rebecca Winninger interview Evan Wolfson, President and Founder of Freedom to Marry. Evan discusses working with Republicans that support marriage equality, the battle in four states this election cycle as well as the historic inclusion of marriage equality by the Democrats in their platform. Evan also gives his opinion on some of the attack ads against the President that are focused on his support of marriage equality and if he thinks the scare tactic will have an impact in this election.
Another topic discussed was the Democratic National Convention. This discussion features clips of some of the highlights from the speeches.
Kathy and Rebecca also cover the news you may have missed and award the Recruit and Reject of the week.
Join us Wednesday evenings LIVE at 7:30pm PT / 10:30pm ET.
Our fabulous little podcast network has hit 100 episodes in total across our various shows and it’s time to break out the bubbly, take a trip down memory lane and talk to those who inspired us to create this very network!
Marc Felion and Fausto Fernós from Feast of Fun join us to talk about how podcasting has changed over the years, and what the future holds this new medium. Marc and Fausto, partners of over 10 years, began Feast of Fun nearly seven years ago and produce five shows a week from Chicago, Illinois. They have won four People’s Choice Podcast Awards in the GLBT category and are known around the world. They essentially started the gay podcast revolution in the mid-2000s.
Joe Dugandzic, founder of QTalk Arizona and host of several shows on the network, was the featured guest this week on Lundon Calling. Lundon Calling is an international LGBT podcast that is hosted by Ace Lundon in Bullhead City, Arizona. Co-hosts include Lance Helms in Atlanta, GA and Angela Brooks in Chowchilla, CA. Ace refers to the podcast as ‘that weekly show where no topic is taboo and where we have no scripts.” The show was is definitely a wild romp through many different subjects and Joe was excited to have a chance to be on the podcast. We hope to have Ace on our very own “The Joe and Babe Show” coming soon to return the favor!
First off, it’s time to go see “You Should Meet My Son!” at FilmBar. A totally cute and funny gay film that didn’t show at our local LGBT film festival. A southern conservative mother indirectly discovers that her only son is gay. Determined that he won’t live a life alone, she sets out to find him a husband. We’ve brought it to FilmBar with the help of our friends at ‘N Touch News Magazine and all of the ticket sales go to benefit Aunt Rita’s Foundation and AIDS Walk Phoenix! So come on out on Friday night (9/23) at 10pm or Sunday (9/25) at 4pm. Buy tickets online in advance as we expect both showings to be a sellout! Click here for full event details.
Pandora DeStrange moved to Phoenix and quickly realized that the drag community here needed help. Over several years, she’s helped the community come together and improve the quality of drag shows in the Valley’s bar scene.
It’s the first time that we’ve had anyone from the drag community on any of our shows, and it certainly won’t be the last! Pandora will be launching her own show on QTalk Arizona in October, to be called “All That Glitters” and it will be a whole new kind of show for our listeners.
Pandora talks about coming out, how the drag queens are perceived, the challenges they’ve faced in the past and moving drag performance into the future. Plus, your calls and questions from our live chat!
